Grand Lakes celebrates success at the Luanda International Fair
VWCO dealership presented a model used by Angolan farmers
Grand Lakes Veículos, Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus (VWCO)´s dealaer, celebrates the great movement at the company’s stand during the 39th. Luanda International Fair (FILDA), the country’s largest commercial promotion event, held between the 23rd and 28th of July. Around 300 people including customers, potential customers, Angolan government authorities and journalists visited the site, whose main attractions were two models of trucks – the Volkswagen Delivery 9.170 (air basket) and the Volkswagen Delivery 11.170 4X4 (dry cargo), this the latter is widely used in rural areas of the country by farmers through the Integrated Rural Trade Development Program (PIDCR).
The event offers business opportunities in several areas, especially transportation, food and beverages, machinery and equipment and home and construction. “It was a great moment for us to present our cargo transport solutions to the international market and offer, especially to African countries, options that add to the transport development strategies of different countries” celebrates the director of Grand Lakes, Geraldo Kulaif.
“In 2022, we entered a partnership with the Angolan government to supply 200 units of the Volkswagen Delivery 11.170 4X4 (dry cargo) to farmers in several provinces. Since then, the result is that there has been a great advance in mobility in the countryside, enabling more frequent commercial exchanges and, consequently, greater income in these locations,” adds the executive.
The company is already preparing for the next edition of FILDA, in 2025, when the 50 years of independence of the country of Portugal will be celebrated. The organizers expect a large exhibition to take place in the same location as this year, the ZEE (Special Economic Zone), with the presence of companies from different countries and cultural attractions in Angola.
The company
Headquartered in Luanda, Grand Lakes belongs to Adone Holding and has been operating in the heavy vehicle segment on the African continent since 2007, with a dealership and an auto parts store in the capital Luanda and a branch in Kalumbila, in the province of Benguela. In June 2023, it opened two more branches – one in the province of Cabinda and the other in the province of Huila. The company is an official dealership for the Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus brand, among other complementary brands for the segment.
Since 2019, the company has delivered more than 1.800 buses to the Regular Urban Passenger Transport Project (TURP), whose objective is to map and define the main operational routes and select urban and interprovincial bus stops, which enables the daily transport of thousands of people. And since 2022, more than 200 trucks have been allocated to the Integrated Rural Trade Development Program (PIDCR), which aims to improve the flow of products from the countryside to consumption areas and boost the growth of the rural sector.
